Because I like Doctor Who, I have been told I am socially predisposed to liking comics. Never to let a prophecy go unself-fulfilled, I have done a read of lots of them for years. In this time, I've come across the mad, bad, sad and utterly brilliant - and even wrote a somewhat misguided (i.e. obvious though thorough) dissertation on Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol.
Aaaanyway, who here likes pictures what have words in bubbles above them? NOT UNDERNEATH, you kinky devils.
Some of my best ones of comics are Hitman, Preacher (no-one can write an ending like Garth Ennis), the obvious ones like everything Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison and Alan Moore have ever done, a lot of Harvey Pekar's American Splendor, but also heavily DC stuff, especially Green Arrow. I'm a bugger for a 70s Swedish pornstar lookalike.
What about you fine people? Or do you think it is all childish? You do? Sod you then...

You know what this forum needs? A whole comics sub-section. Consider this the first 'topic moved to another section' post! In a *good* way!

It is a rather good tale, yes. I would honestly recommend picking up all of the trades that preceed that, i.e. Grant Morrison's run. It is an exemplary run of comics, marred slightly by his tendency to turn Batman into an infallible god, and the ill-considered editorial mandate of giving Superman electricity-based powers.
Still, grab New World Order, American Dreams, Rock of Ages, Strength in Numbers, Justice For All and World War III, then get Tower of Babel.
Or if you've aready read all of those, get Tower of Babel and the following trade, Divided We Fall, then ignore that iteration of the Justice League and start buying Justice League International trade paperbacks, by Giffen, DeMatties and Maguire.
